Mélanie Watt is a young talented author-illustrator who has won several prestigious awards for her work, including the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award, the Blue Spruce Award and the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Award. She charmed children with Augustine, the little penguin, Frisson l?écureuil, the scaredy squirrel and more recently, with Chester, the big red cat and Al Lerusé, the salesman. Mélanie began working on her first children's book while still in university. Léon le caméléon was a class project about being different that also explored the concept of complimentary colours. Mélanie has also published Apprendre avec les animaux, a set of 5 concept board books.

Elle a publié plus de dix albums aux Éditions Scholastic, dont ceux mettant en vedette Augustine, Frisson l'écureuil, Chester et Al Leruzé. Mélanie a remporté à quelques reprises le prix Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon et le prix Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz, en plus d'avoir été nommée auteure et illustratrice de l'année, en 2008 et en 2009, par la Canadian Booksellers Association (Libris Awards). Au cours des dernières années, les livres de Mélanie se sont distingués au Palmarès Livromagie (6-9 ans) de Communication-Jeunesse. Chester - Le retour! et Frisson l'écureuil en pleine nuit ont respectivement remporté la 1re et la 5e position du Palmarès 2009-2010. L'album Chester avait lui aussi pris le 1er rang du même Palmarès en 2008-2009, alors que Frisson l'écureuil se fait un ami avait remporté la 2e position en 2007-2008. Mélanie habite Montréal.
