Description

In this readily digestible collection of short articles, News of the War of 1812 brings us the breaking news of Canada's most horrific war through two War of 1812 re-enactors. There is a sense of immediacy to the reports, with the events of the war unfolding day by day. Sample headlines include "American Sailor Killed," "Brave Woman Saves Officer," "Chesapeake Affair Sparks Call for War," and "Fifteen Traitors Condemned." While battles and foreign policy are included, the emphasis of these articles are the people - the effect of the war on women, Native people, so-called traitors, and the ordinary folk caught up in dramatic and perilous times. All accounts are authentic stories supported with scholarly research - brought to you by the re-enactments of Robert Nicol, Quartermaster-General of Militia for Upper Canada, and his wife Theresa.
